Overview

477 Israeli startups and tech companies. Each record has a name, website, sector, stage, a short summary, links and the sources behind each fact. Funding rounds come from SEC Form D filings and are matched by company name.

The version is part of the path. Breaking changes ship under a new version.

Authentication

Send your key as a bearer token on every request. One free key per app.

Rate limits

Limits are set per key. Every response carries three headers; going over the limit returns 429.

Header	Meaning
`X-RateLimit-Limit`	Requests allowed in the current window.
`X-RateLimit-Remaining`	Requests left in the current window.
`X-RateLimit-Reset`	Unix time when the window resets.

GET`/companies`

Search and list companies. Results are paged with a cursor.

Parameter	In	Description
`sector`	query	Filter by sector, for example `Cybersecurity`. Names come from GET /sectors.
`stage`	query	Filter by stage: `startup`, `scaleup`, `established` or `public`.
`q`	query	Keyword search over name, domain and summary.
`cursor`	query	Opaque cursor from the previous page's `next_cursor`.
`limit`	query	Page size, 1 to 100. Default 20.

Company object

Returned by the company endpoints. Field names match the data on the site.

`domain`	string	Primary domain, the record id.
`name`	string	Company name.
`url`	string	Page for this company on startupnation.io.
`summary`	string or null	One-line description.
`tags`	string[]	Free-form tags.
`kind`	string	Record kind: startup, company or public.
`sector`	string	One of the sectors from GET /sectors.
`stage`	string or null	startup, scaleup, established or public. null when unknown.
`logo`	string or null	Logo URL.
`logo_light`	boolean or null	True when the logo is light-coloured. null when unknown.
`careers_url`	string or null	Careers page, when we found one.
`linkedin_url`	string or null	LinkedIn page, when we found one.
`tagline`	string or null	Tagline from the company site.
`description`	string or null	Description from the company site.
`language`	string or null	Language of the company site, for example en.
`og_image`	string or null	Social preview image of the company site.
`funding`	object[]	Funding rounds from SEC Form D: amount (USD), date (YYYY-MM-DD) and source_url.
`sources`	object[]	Where facts came from: url and label.
`status`	string	active, acquired or closed. Acquired and closed records keep their page but are not counted as companies.
`acquired_by`	string or null	Acquirer name, when status is acquired.
`acquired_date`	string or null	Date of the acquisition or closing, YYYY-MM-DD or YYYY.
`status_source`	string or null	Public page that backs the status.
`verified`	string or null	Date the company verified this page by email from its own domain, YYYY-MM-DD. null when not verified.
`last_checked`	string	Date the record was last checked, YYYY-MM-DD.

Errors

Errors use the matching HTTP status and a JSON body.

Status	Code	Meaning
400	`invalid_request`	A parameter is missing or invalid.
401	`unauthorized`	The key is missing or not valid.
404	`not_found`	No such company or endpoint.
429	`rate_limited`	The key went over its limit.
500	`internal_error`	Something failed on our side. Retry later.
